Aeration & Overseeding

Aeration is a process of inserting holes in the soil.  This process combats soil compaction allowing for better water and nutrient absorption, better decomposition of thatch, enhanced oxygen levels in the soil, and promotes root growth.  Combining aeration with overseeding helps seed to soil contact which improves germination rate.

Fertilizing & Weed Control

Proper turfgrass management programs produce an attractive & healthy lawn that can also help protect the Chesapeake Bay.  (see University of Maryland Extension Pub. FS702 ).  Fertilization is one of the most basic and important components of a turfgrass management program.   Proper fertilization contributes greatly to lawn color, density, uniformity, and growth.  Combining weed control services with fertilization keeps the grass from competing with the weeds greatly reducing the need for more aggressive environmentally harmful blanket applications of herbicides.  Our fertilization and weed control services are tailored to your lawn's needs.  We start with a soil sample that provides information on it's nutrient make up.  Armed with that information we develop a customized program for your lawn.

Proper lawn mowing -- including mow height, direction, and frequency -- is the easiest, most economical way to keep your lawn healthy & beautiful.  Our mowing service includes not just mowing but edging, weed eating, & blowing off hard surfaces.  We offer weekly, biweekly, one time, & temporary vacation service.

Leaf Clean Up

Fall leave removal is not only a matter of property beautification but is an important part of your lawn's maintenance. A thick barrier of leaves will trap moisture, inhibit sunlight, harbor insects & diseased, & kill patches of grass. We provide two types of leaf clean up: complete removal which includes gathering and removal of leaves from the property or mulching which is a process of mowing over the lawn to finely chop the leaves. Which is correct for your property depends on your preference and the amount of leaves.

Proper mulching -- including mulch quality & depth of application -- helps retain ground moisture, reduces weed growth, adds nutrients to soil as it decays, prevents damage to plants from lawn equipment, & adds a uniformity to the property.  Our mulching service for existing beds includes edging, weeding, & clean up beds, applying pre-emergent to prevent new weeds, pick up & delivery of mulch, applying/spreading of 1"-2" of mulch in beds.  We also offer bed creation and reshaping services.
